Successful onsite presentation
Travel to Japan can be a rich and rewarding adventure. But there are certain do's and don'ts about Japan which a traveler has to keep in mind. Inform yourself about culture and habits you need to know to avoid communication problems.But not to forget you are in Japan to present your company and products to the Japanese Organic market and to do it successfully you should be sure you are avoiding intercultural misunderstandings and you are meeting their taste etc.
A few questions you need to question yourself while you are preparing your booth:
- Whom I am presenting my product?
- What language is he speaking?
- What typical behaviors do they have?
- What color perception do they have?
You are presenting your product mainly to Japanese people. In Japan English is not as widely spread as in Europe. Even when speaking English, Japanese visitors tend to be too shy to practice in front of Western people. That means: you should invest in a Japanese looking interpreter, to avoid any shyness and thereby caused barrier.
Japanese people are a bit shy and you should try to make it as easy as possible to get interested in your products and your company. That means:
- Prepare Japanese information about your product and company.
- Have your products easy to be reached by the visitors, also without to talk to you.
- Communicate your marketing message in Japanese and write it on a sign in your booth.
Packaging is one topic itself, Japanese are people who love nice packaging, the elaborating the over packing the better. They do not favor bright colors and smell. That does mean you should take care not to wear i.e. a pink or red suite during the exhibition and the smell of your perfume should be very discreet.
